VANUATU Sports Field 1804
Spend your summer in this unspoiled tropical paradise, working to help community churches while you enjoy pristine beaches, island jungle and cooling waterfalls. Following your Boot Camp training at Karakariki Christian Camp just out of Hamilton in the Waikato, you will bus to Auckland’s International Airport for your flight to Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu on the island of Efate. From there you’ll fly to Santo and on to the island of Pentecost where you will stay in a village called Waterfall which has a swimming hole in which you can cool off after a hard days work! The team has been asked to build a stage for one of the island’s main sports fields, which is used for many community activities, including conventions, rallies and crusades for the churches. The church youth will use it to announce their activities during the sports events, and so on; it will be a real blessing to the community. Did you know that bungee jumping originated on Pentecost Island? Learn the cultural reason behind it. A number of Teen Missions teams have ministered here; you will appreciate the welcome you will receive and the fellowship you’ll enjoy with God’s people. While in your Boot Camp classes make sure you learn some new choruses and puppet acts that you can take with you to share with the children, along with dramas for the young people. They will also teach you some old Teen Missions items that they have learned over the years! You should have time for some souvenir shopping and sightseeing in Port Vila as you fly back to NZ again for Debrief. In Hamilton you’ll meet with the other teams for fun, fellowship and a few classes before going home.
