Be a part of a life changing adventure as you meet the many needs of the people in India. India is one of the most diverse countries in the world – one of those, “you’ll-never-be-the-same-again” places. After Boot Camp, your flight will take you from Brisbane International Airport, through Singapore and onto Chennai, India, where you will board a train for the memorable six-hour trip north to Vijayawada, then bus to Atkur. Your team will help two groups of forgotten people, those who live in the Krishna River slums and those at the Leprosy Mission. Your team will help by bringing much-needed medical supplies. These basic supplies will help prevent the suffering caused by malaria, dehydration and other preventable illnesses. The team will renovate and upgrade housing at both the Leprosy Mission and in the slums. You will see the desperate needs in the area and help make a difference in the lives of the poor who live there. You will be housed in dorm-style living and laundry will be done using buckets. The primitive conditions will be far outweighed by the welcoming love and openness of the national people as you share God’s love through music, puppets, drama and testimonies. Before returning to Brisbane, this team will take a train north to the nation’s capital, New Delhi, where you will be able to buy souvenirs such as saris, copperware, jewellery, silver products, tablecloths and Punjabis. You will also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit one of the Wonders of the World, theTaj Mahal, in the ancient city of Agra. |
