Teams return to the Teen Missions base in Tewantin, Queensland, for their last few days of the summer together. Debrief consists of four days where teams fellowship, share testimonies, compete in memory verse quizzes and attend classes preparing them for continued service after returning home. It’s a time to relax and enjoy each other’s company, before we part ways.
Just as it is important to train young people for their team projects, so it is equally important to train them to go home, where they will face the many pressures of today. Debrief unpacks the ‘Mountain Series’ – where we move from mighty mountains to victorious valleys, unpacking a spiritually intense summer in preparation for returning home and continuing to serve the Lord. Sessions include, ‘Me only on this mountain,’ ‘You’ve dwelt long enough on this mountain’ and ‘Give me this mountain,’ exploring the stories of Elijah, Moses and Caleb.
Teens learn how to share their summer, and are encouraged to actively contribute to their own church and community when they get home, even beginning a ministry to youth in their schools or community.
