Cook Islands YWAM 1206

Quietly tucked away among 2.2 million square kilometers of ocean, and hidden halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii is a small group of islands making an huge impact on the world. These 15 Polynesian Islands make up a nation called the Cook Islands which is home to a growing Youth with A Missions (YWAM) ministry. Following your training in Tewantin you and your team will head to Brisbane International Airport for your connecting flight in Auckland, NZ and on to your final destination the main island of Rarotonga. A short journey through this paradise to the YWAM base where you will continue the expansion work on dorms and classrooms. There is a lot of work that needs to be done to complete these projects. With each room that is completed, more students are able to be trained. Your training at Boot Camp will be valuable not only for the building and renovation but also for outreach. Weekend and some afternoon outreaches are planned with staff and students these will include volleyball and sports clinics along the beaches. Island culture is in its music, which marks the daily routine in Rarotonga; the chants, hymns and songs of the Kaparima are part of island life. All is not work, during your free time travel around the 32 km ring road to one of the sparkling blue lagoons and pearly white beaches for swimming, fishing or snorkelling at the nearby coral reefs. Yes, there are shopping opportunities to purchase handicrafts that will have their own unique history and can be a reminder about your journey of a lifetime and the impact you had. Estimated cost: AU$2156 + Rego fee.
