Zimbabwe School/Water Purifiers 1203

Return to where it all started 25 years ago. Teen Missions Australia’s first Boot Camp was not held in Tewantin QLD but actually near Harare, Zimbabwe in a combined Zimbabwean/Australian Boot Camp. Both nations were changed and the work that God had started still continues impacting both countries and beyond. Following your training you will fly from Brisbane to Singapore to catch a flight to Johannesburg, South Africa before flying to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.  From the airport, you will travel two hours on a truck to Mile Marker 97.  Another 20km down a dusty road through the bush and past villages will take you to the Teen Missions base where staff, students and orphans eagerly await your arrival. Part of your work is setting up a very simple bucket water purifier system for the school and nearby Rescue Units. That will be just the beginning of your work and your cross-cultural experiences! You will be working alongside Zimbabwe teens, who have just completed their Boot Camp training, and helping them with the various projects and outreaches they have going on. Take some time to visit Bulawayo, also known as “City of Kings”, and make great deals with the street vendors and shops. Matobos National Park contains fantastic rock formations – one of few places in the world where you will see the famous balancing rocks and San (Bushmen) painted caves. Some animals you may see are sable, impala, springboks, klipspringer, white rhino, giraffes, wildebeest, zebra and occasionally leopards. Despite the hardships that you may see and the poverty that is all around, it will be the smiles on faces that you will remember the most. Estimated cost: AU$3849 + Rego fee.
