Another thing we often take for granted is the gift of water. In Zambia, not even 60 percent of the population have access to adequate sanitation and safe water. Dehydration caused by severe diarrhoea is a key cause of infant deaths in Zambia, a country with one of the highest child mortality rates in the world. Diarrhoea is the third leading cause of clinic visits and death for children under five years of age, after pneumonia and malaria. We would like to make a difference in the lives of those living around the unit by bringing in a water purification system. The team will set the system up and show the facilitators how to use it. Over the next few years the teams going to Wangibasha will be constructing different buildings like graineries for the grain the children grow and storage rooms for: medicine, teaching materials and tools. Other buildings needed are the Sunday School shed, classrooms and even a church. This is a great team for couples, for school teachers on school break or young adults that just want to do something. This is a very remote team. The team will sleep in tents and will get water from the nearby well. Bathing and laundry will be done by using buckets. This team is tough but definitely worthwhile because you will be bringing hope to many young lives.
